“Today I have perfected your religion”

A Jew said to ʿUmar: there is an ayah in your Book which, had it come down upon us, we would have made that day a festival. ʿUmar said: I know the day and the place. It was at ʿArafah, on a Friday, with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing among the pilgrims. This is the surah it belongs to — among the last to be revealed, and nothing in it set aside.
