“Would you kill a man for saying, ‘My Lord is Allah’?”

The first of the seven Ḥā Mīm surahs. In Pharaoh’s own court, as the order to kill Mūsā is being discussed, one man who had hidden his faith stands up and speaks. The surah gives him the floor for eighteen ayat — and Abū Bakr once shouted his words at the Kaʿbah, with his hands on a man who was strangling the Prophet ﷺ.
