A defeat, and a prophecy

The Persians had crushed the Byzantines and taken Jerusalem, and the idolaters of Makkah were jubilant. Then this surah came down and said that within a few years the outcome would be reversed. Abū Bakr staked a wager on it. It happened as it was said.
