The best of stories

Every other prophet’s story in the Qurʾan is told in pieces, scattered across many surahs. This one is told once, whole, from a boy’s dream to its fulfilment decades later — the well, the slave-market, the locked door, the prison, the granaries of Egypt — and it ends with the brothers who threw him away standing before him, asking for charity.
